On that day, I had an idea. There had been some sales on TiVo HDs of late at our local mini-sized Best Buys. Why not pick up a CableCARD or two instead of a replacement DVR (which still won't be able to keep from recording the same episodes of A Daily Show with John Stewart and The Colbert Report 4 times a day!!) and buy a TiVo to solve our DVR problems?
So we got our second Tivo.
And we love it, just like we did our first one before we lost reception on our DirecTiVo.
We are still breaking ourselves in, trying to get the accustomed to the new features, but it really is nice. Thanks, TiVo. It's good to be home!

Your Comcast DVR can only do what you tell it to. If it was recording all four airings of a show a day, you obviously didn't choose "record only new episodes". Don't get me wrong, it's a clunky beast, but a lot of complaints come from people who don't actually know how to properly use them.
ReplyDeleteActually, Mr/Ms. Anonymous, it was set to record only new shows. The problem was that there was no guide data indicating the show was new or a repeat, so the DVR defaulted to recording it.
ReplyDeleteI've been attached to a DVR of one sort or another for over eight years, and for Comcast to revert the Washington DVRs (running the Microsoft software) back to the same stuff the rest of the country was using was a few steps backwards too many.
